The new permanent section at Museomontagna, on the occasion of the 70th
anniversary of the Italian expedition to K2.

The initiative, promoted on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the ascent and coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the Museum foundation, offers a narration of the Italian expedition organised by the Italian Alpine Club and sponsored by the National Research Council, the Military Geographical Institute, CONI, and others.

With cartographic documents, photographs, films, equipment and period gear, the new permanent section opened to visitors on Friday 29 March. It recounts the feat of the first ascent of the Karakorum mastodon, the second highest peak on Earth.

The project is realised with the support of the Regione Piemonte (in the framework of the call Valorizzazione beni archivistici 2023), of the City of Turin and the Camera di Commercio di Torino, with the sponsorship of Vibram and the technical partnership of Leroy
Merlin.
