LE ALPI DEL MONFERRATO
Photographs by Enzo Isaia
The exhibition at Palazzo Roccabruna in Trento
After the stop at the Museo Nazionale della Montagna, the exhibition will open on Monday, January 25 at Palazzo Roccabruna in Trento and will be open until February 26, 2021.
Over the last decade, Enzo Isaia has dedicated a series of photographs to Monferrato, highlighting its relationship with the Alpine arc. The exhibition presents a selection of shots that enhance this extraordinary natural and cultural landscape through the lights of the seasons, with an approach that puts in natural but not obvious relationship two excellences of the national scene.
What makes his landscapes – photographed in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, in the Langa and Roero of Asti and in the plains around Villanova d’Asti – unparalleled is the scenic value of the crown of the Alps: a majestic presence that is physically located at a distance of between 90 and 150 kilometers, but that the use of different optics makes more or less imposing, near or far.
A novelty marks this new exhibition setting: the presence of the Vite Notturne series, which we read in the words of Giorgio La Rocca. “For four years and four vintages, a man, a dog and a camera wandered around the vineyards at night, braving cold and sleep, mud and ditches, anxious vintners and curious passers-by, with one goal: to photograph the invisible in an unlikely situation.
The result is images that distill the shapes of berries, bunches, shoots and vines, illuminated by a single LED and a small mirror, projecting them into a fantasy world: like unique jewels resting on the black velvet of the night.”
