Mountain Scenarios is web-based art project launched in 2020 during the second general closure of museums due to the public health emergency.
Curated by Andrea Lerda and Veronica Lisino, Mountain Scenarios offers an exploration of contemporary creativity on the Museomontagna website, uncovering new imagery and universes of meaning linked to the mountains at the beginning of the 21st century.
Works by Italian and international artists – periodically presented on our social media channels – tell the story of environmental, cultural and socio-economic aspects and developments.
In today’s global context, mountains are taking on a central role in the construction of new modes of inhabiting the world: they are laboratories of extraordinary importance for imagining new balances and designing models of life and sustainability.
Contemporary art and creativity are primarily social tools which, today more than ever, demonstrate their extraordinary ability to deconstruct paradigms, create narratives and propose new scenarios.
In this context of profound transformation that is affecting our museums, including on the digital front, we have decided to take advantage of social networks, leveraging their dynamic and interactive nature, yet without sacrificing depth, as we are convinced that the sharing of culture has no spatial limits if it is conveyed in simple and accessible words.
“We must think, speak, imagine, and question the world together.
We need art to activate poetic, ethical, and truly magical dimensions of existence that make life worth living.”
