INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

iAlp

From 2017 to 2020 the Museo Nazionale della Montagna and the Musée Alpin of Chamonix have been committed to the Interreg Alcotra iAlp project, dedicated to promoting alpine culture’s patrimony. We worked on our collections developing new instruments and partnerships: a series of best practices with positive effect on regular activities. The common actions ensured the digitalisation of part of the collections, improving methods of conservation, three cross-border exhibitions and implementation of mountainmuseums.org, conceived to extend accessibility to our collections and activities.

INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR MOUNTAIN FILM

The Museo Nazionale della Montagna was one of the founders of the IAMF, the association that unites the most important bodies that promote and conserve mountain film. The association’s headquarters is in the Documentation Area of the Museum, which also carries out a coordinating role (https://www.mountainfilmalliance.org/).

INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN MUSEUMS ALLIANCE

The IMMA was founded in the year 2015, in the Food and Agriculture Organization – United Nations headquarters in Rome. The museums-members of IMMA differ in size and scope of their work but they are all gathering objects and archives concerning mountains and engage in the history of mountaineering. IMMA’s main goal is therefore to promote the mountaineering culture and heritage, as well as organisation of common projects (https://www.mountainmuseums.org/imma-international-mountain-museums-alliance/).
